If you've wondered why sim racing driving standards are so poor in recent times, it's because nobody is actually being sorted correctly. Most racing sims have a safety rating system where you get points for turning clean laps. The problem? This is ridiculously easy and makes safety rating effectively meaningless. It seems to have been designed by someone who themselves couldn't get around a track for more than 2-3 laps in a row without spinning, and created a metagame based around their own incompetence - not realizing the majority of drivers would have no trouble completing several clean races in a row. Elo Rank isn't designed for people to be playing on different schedules, and doesn't consider fluke results. The entire population of the game ends up being rated, and sorted into races, inaccurately.
