Hi all, Welcome to Jshimz channel. In this soap making tutorial i am making turmeric soap. In my country Malaysia, turmeric is a spice/herb that we usually use daily in our cooking. It easily to get in powder form from any grocery shop. Turmeric Soap Benefits: Turmeric soap believe to have many benefits to the skin including reducing inflammation and help with skin conditions (you may get paper research regarding its benefits online too) which lead to me in creating this soap. Will the colour stayed or faded as it's cure? To get a brighter colour, you can try to infuse the turmeric for up to 6 hours and let it stay overnight and make soap the next day or you can prepare it early and make the soap once you're ready. I usually let the infusion oil stay overnight and make the soap the next day or keep it for days until I am ready for soap making. But as we are using natural colourant, the soap will become less brighter especially after keep for more than 4 weeks (base on my personal experience). Can I add turmeric powder directly without infusion? You may add the turmeric powder directly during soap making without infusion too (there is no right or wrong in the soap making, you may choose the method that suits you or as per your preferences), I done it once, and the soap faded quicker than infusion which is why I choose to do infusion (base on my personal experience). Be cautious when handling turmeric powder as it may stain your hand or soap equipment. It is advisable to use stainless steel equipment as it easy to clean but do not worry about the soap silicone mould as it will not stain. Safety precautions: Don't forget to use all safety equipment as the lye/sodium hydroxide is caustic and it can burn your skin. Safety equipment needed: Eye google, hand gloves, face mask, and long sleeve cloth when handling the lye/sodium hydroxide to avoid skin burn and fumes. Early preparation: 1) Froze goat milk I prefer to freeze the goat milk as it helps to reduce the lye temperature to increase dramatically and avoid milk scorching which will make the lye solution turn to yellow or orangey colour. 2) Turmeric Infusion Oil (2tbsp Turmeric Powder + 300g Extra Virgin Olive Oil) Ingredients: 252g Goat Milk (You may substitute with distilled water or any types of milk as per your preferences) 140g Sodium Hydroxide/Lye 300g Turmeric Infusion Oil (30%) 280g Coconut Oil (28%) 200g Shea Butter (20%) 120g Sweet Almond Oil (12%) 50g Palm Oil (5%) 50g Castor Oil (5%) 1 tsp Sodium lactate 1 tsp Kaolin Clay 2 tsp Turmeric Powder 31g Essential Oil of your choice Cure soap for 4 weeks and the soap are ready to use.
