Offset loading can be performed with barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, cables, bands and even bodyweight. Offset loading is performed by loading more weight or place more tension on one side of the body and less on the other. It is very effective for exposing muscle imbalances and helping to eliminate them. Dr Seedman explains that this is because it forces the weaker side to catch up to the stronger side particularly when it comes to neural drive, muscle activation patterns, motor control, intramuscular tension, and motor unit synchronization. It is extremely challenging.
