I take a closer look at why great white sharks seem more visible today, especially along the California coast. Using drone footage filmed near busy beaches and insights from long-term scientific research, we explore how technology, social media, and increased observation have reshaped public perception of sharks. I break down why shark populations are difficult to estimate, how scientists actually study great white sharks, and what decades of data really show. I also share what I learned while spending time with researchers from the California White Shark Project, including how individual sharks are identified and tracked over many years. We also look at why sharks are often seen in shallow, nearshore waters — and why that overlap with people isn’t new. From prey availability to site fidelity, the behavior we’re seeing today has largely existed for decades. What’s changed is our ability to see it from above and share it instantly. Every clip in this video is real, filmed in natural conditions. Nothing is staged. Nothing is AI-generated. INFORMATION LINKS California White Shark Project https://www.californiawhitesharkproje...
