Suleiman Kabalan Frangieh (15 June 1910 – 23 July 1992) was a Lebanese politician who served as the 5th president of Lebanon from 1970 to 1976. Frangieh's rule saw the inevitable fall of the Lebanese Republic to foreign control and the start of a devastating civil war. His failure to act upon PLO seizures of Western Beirut, his invitation for Syria to begin its involvement and occupation of Lebanon, and his general ineffective control over the army and among his own Christian allies makes him one of the worst presidents in the country's history. the Frangieh clan would cut all ties with the Gemayel and Chamoun clans that ruled the LF in early 1978, leading to the murder of Suleiman's son Tony Frangieh and his family in the infamous Ehden Massacre on June the following year. Siege of Nabaa was an assault on a PLO controlled Shia neighborhood by the LF militia, primarily the Phalange from June to August 1976 during the Two Years War era of the Civil War, resulting in 400 civilian casualties. The Siege was part of the larger campaign launched by the Front to neutralize armed palestinian refugee camps in their territories.
