Major leap forward for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) research QIMR Berghofer researchers have identified genes involved in OCD, offering new hope for people living with this complex, often misunderstood mental health condition. Led by Professor Eske Derks, researchers pinpointed approximately 250 genetic links to OCD, across 30 regions of the human genome, in a sample of more than 50,000 people with the condition and 2 million people without. OCD is often thought of as an obsession with cleaning or checking. However, it can take many forms, including intrusive thoughts, doubts about relationships, and fears of harming others.
