Last week, I attended a concert at Qudos Bank Arena and decided to check out the American Express Lounge. So here’s my quick review of the lounge. 💻 Check out my food and travel blog: https://chewyourchow.org/ 📢 Follow me on social media Instagram: / chewyourchow TikTok: / chewyourchow Facebook: / chewyourchow #americanexpress #amex #lounge Starting with the location, the lounge is located on Level 1, opposite door 39. The closest entry to the lounge is ENTRY B aka the Northern Foyer Entry. The lounge has a variety of seating options ranging from ottomans to banquet tables. I preferred sitting along the windows as you faced away from other guests and there were power points to recharge your phone. While there was ample seating, the lounge ended up becoming really packed and quite noisy. Food and beverages are ordered at the counter and then delivered to your table via waitstaff. At the back of the lounge is the open kitchen where your meal gets made. The beverages menu has wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks, water, and even cocktails. Prices are definitely marked up but the only other option is to line up downstairs with the crowd. For food, there were 14 options on the menu, there was also chips, chocolate, and candy at the counter. I went with the waffle fries, which was a generous serving and cooked perfectly. The roasted duck pancakes on the other hand were a miss - the serving was tiny, 3 mini half pancakes and the duck meat was in the form of a mince. And lastly the duo of sliders were average. The service definitely needs improvement, the staff at the counter weren’t aware of the 10% discount on food and drinks for AMEX cardholders - even though it was featured at the bottom of the menu. I also overhead a table getting the wrong order delivered to them twice. In order to access the lounge you have to be an AMEX cardholder. Each Primary and Additional Card Member may invite up to 3 guests into the lounge while Centurion and Platinum Charge Card Members may invite up to 5 guests. The lounge is open from the time the main venue doors open, until the start of the main act. So for my visit the lounge opened at 6pm with the concert starting at 7:30pm. One thing to note is that entry is subject to capacity and it’s a first come first served policy, although there is a VIP line for Centurion and Platinum Charge Card Members. The lounge is a welcomed reprieve from the crowds with solid food and beverage options. The downside is that it can get packed really quickly and service can be hit or miss.
