CORRECTION: Near the beginning I say it now has an ST front end, that was the vocal equivalent of a typo...it's an R80GS front end. This video is a technical walk round of my R80G/ST (originally an 1982R80ST). I've been using this bike for off-road racing, greenlaing, tours around Europe and as transport for my job as a professional photographer. I've tried to stay true to the style & feel of it's era, while making the bike my own individual piece. This video is quite long with a lot of talking, not really designed as an entertainment, but I'm hoping in there I answer lots of questions people might have about airhead off-road builds and also converting an R80ST. Below are the chapters incase your interested in a specific part: 00:00 Intro 00:40 Front end - R80ST to R80GS fork conversion, including front wheel, disc & top yokes 02:46 Tommaselli Offroad Handlebars & Wunderlich bar raisers 03:39 Footpegs - Lower footpeg brackets from Hyperpro + KTM 690 Footpegs 05:43 Brake & gear lever adjustments 07:43 Bash plate / Sump guard + G/S Sump & Pickup 08:50 Hyperpro G/S rear shock with remote reservoir (air thingy) 09:58 Why remote reservoir shocks are better 10:42 Metzeler M/C 360 & Michelin Anakee Wild review 11:57 R80GS Tank fitted to R80ST 12:22 R80G/S Paris Dakar seat and rear rack 13:13 BMW R80ST original exhaust system plus heat shield 14:38 R80ST 800cc Engine for offroading 15:46 How to lockwire BMW airhead carb float bowls 16:44 Left hand side stand and the horrendous BMW R80ST original 17:57 Thanks for watching!
