From powerful new cards that define formats to new mechanics that explore new design territory, there are plenty of ways a set can have an impact. That impact isn’t always positive however, as Magic has had several sets that were misses or outright negatives to the game. Some sets are so bad that they offer little to nothing substantial, or the substantial things they do offer are seen as negatives for their overall impact on the game.
