February 20th 2014 in central Kyiv. A bloody end to Ukraine's Revolution. Sounds of gunshots and fireworks echo across Independence Square. In the clashes between protesters and security forces, over 100 people lost their lives. Many more were wounded. Months of peaceful anti-government demonstrations had passed - but it was these pictures that would wake up the world. Fast forward to today and Ukraine's General Prosecutor's Office has published a report on the tragic events of that day. The findings come exactly two years after EuroMaidan. Serhiy Horbatyuk, a top investigator in the case, reveals the findings of the probe. Serhiy Gorbatyuk, Deputy Chief of Investigate Department / Prosecutor General of Ukraine: "Even on February 20, after the shootings on Maidan, the authorities equipped Titushky street thugs with 408 firearms from warehouses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 90,000 rounds. You can only imagine what was in the minds of those who gave such orders or what sort of scenarios they imagined to commit crimes against the protesters" The report also claims 276 people have been accused by the General Prosecutor of bring involved in shootings, beatings and humiliation of protesters between November 2013 and February 2014. Among the defendents - the country's then leadership led by former President Viktor Yanukovych, the Berkut riot police and titushki thugs. Even the judges and prosecutors are included. But today's report is unlikely to dispel doubts a proper investigation into events during the EuroMaidan uprising will be held. Lawyers for the victims' families say political interference, lack of resources and pressure on investigators are preventing the real answers being uncovered.
