I'm a Universalist Quaker: I see value in all forms of spiritual discipline: Judaism, Islam and Christianity and also Buddhists, B'hais and Hindus. So I wanted to illustrate a quote from Quaker Faith and Practice that was inclusive of all religions. Phyllis Richards' words [21.13] fitted well becauase they're quite witty, with an unexpected pay-off at the end, which shows that despite disapproving of gambling and drinking, Quakers can laugh at themselves and admit that hypocrisy is widely practiced." I made this film in 5 days for the Stroud 90-second Film Festival. If anyone would like to join me to create a similar film quoting an Advice and Query or Faith and Practice, please contact me at drnismith@hotmail.com. Filmed for the Stroud Film Festival 90-second Film Challenge. As an animator, I've sometimes decried the use of time lapse as uncreative and banal, however, hyperlapse does create an unforgettable sense of 3D around buildings and townscapes. For me, there's also a sense of time passing and nothing happening, a hint of doom and mortality and the need to be active in our lives, our families and communities. A film includes stills and time lapse sequences of places of worship in Bristol and Stroud. Also Early Bumblebees [Bombus pratorum] collecting nectar from heather flowers and portraits of local people and inspired by Holbein and John Blanche [Warhammer Artist]. A closing shot of a puppet created by Robert Race Automata exhibition at the Museum in the Park, Stroud.
