Today we'll be looking at how to make a material in Substance Designer in 3 different levels of skill; Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Over my years teaching I've seen a lot of different skill levels and have tried in this video to identify some practical ways to advance from one tier to the next! We discuss some of the absolute tell-tale signs of a graph made by someone really new and discuss better ways to approach those problems. We also talk a lot about cracks and how to improve them, making some trickier patterns as well as some basic Pixel Processor work. / johnnynodes If you would like to support me making more tutorial content, please consider supporting me at Patreon 0:00:00 - Introduction 0:04:58 - BEGINNER GRAPH 0:15:35 - Avoid this in Albedo Maps! 0:21:58 - Don't Pattern like this 0:27:17 - Don't do this in Roughness Maps! 0:30:03 - INTERMEDIATE GRAPH 0:31:36 - Directional Warp Trick 0:43:44 - Use Reference! 0:45:38 - Albedo Tricks 0:51:02 - Procedural Pattern 1:01:42 - Proper Roughness Maps 1:06:05 - ADVANCED GRAPH 1:12:08 - Vector Warps 1:15:47 - Improved Cracks 1:22:38 - Crack Tricks 1:26:36 - Gradient Dynamics 1:29:09 - Pixel Processor 1:30:21 - Breakup Trick
