Italian composer. His Madrigali a quattro voci was dedicated on 27 August 1540 to his patron, Count Federico Anguissola of Piacenza. 16 of the settings are of poetry by Luigi Cassola of Piacenza and six others mention ladies, one of whom, Ippolita Borromea Anguissola, was the wife of Count Girolamo of Piacenza. Veggio's madrigals are praised in a letter from Antonfrancesco Doni to the sculptor Giovanni Angelo, dated 3 June 1543, which also describes Veggio's activities as a harpsichordist and composer, presumably at the Accademia Ortolana, to which his poets Cassola, Doni and Bartolomeo Gottifredi also belonged. A further letter of 10 April 1544, from Doni to Veggio, requested new madrigals, and Veggio may have complied since four of his pieces appeared in Doni's Dialogo, published in that year. The quantity of keyboard and sacred music by Veggio in manuscripts at Castell'Arquato suggest that he held an appointment there, possibly that of church organist.
