Melbourne (KMLB) to super busy Merritt Island (KCOI) to visit family (and eat pasta)

On our way back to KSAV from our Melbourne adventure, Bo and I stopped at Merritt Island (KCOI) to visit family (and eat some pasta). This was a short flight, but very intense, with a multitude of airplanes in the pattern and maneuvering around the airport. Coming from the south, we attempted to enter on a right base (even though the airport is left traffic). There were so many airplanes on ADS-B (all pointing at each other) that prevented us from performing a normal entry into the downwind. The safest course of action was to stay south and try to squeeze in with minimum interference... however someone still called us out (excuse my rant at the end)...
