Now both VPNs are super popular, with millions of users around the world, so clearly these providers are very well established and there are many things that they do right, otherwise they wouldn’t be this successful. They both boast the standard 256-bit encryption, which is as standard as it gets really, it’s the least a VPN can offer, but what Surfshark and Nord also bring to the table is the fact that their servers are RAM operated servers, which means that there are no physical drives where data can be stored, and whatever little data can be stored on the RAM disks, is in fact deleted with every machine reboot, and combined with the fact that Surfshark and Nord are also both independently audited by third party audit companies, such as PricewaterHouseCoopers and Cure53, verifies the security and solidity of the server infrastructure of both providers. And beyond that, NordVPN offers some extra features here, which is the DoubleVPN security feature. Now, when using DoubleVPN servers, your connection will be routed through two servers rather than just one, which will simply double the encryption. Surfshark has the same feature but it’s called Multihop instead. In terms of speed, both VPNs are as quick as they can be, Surfshark is a quick VPN especially when using the WireGuard protocol, but simply put, it’s not as quick as NordVPN’s NordLynx protocol, which is a modern WireGuard protocol known for being one of the quickest protocol in the business. So while Surfshark’s Wireguard protocol is no slouch, NordVPN’s NordLynx takes it a step further. Now both VPNs have a lot of server numbers and locations, with Surfshark having over 3,200 servers in 65 countries, and NordVPN with over 5,100 servers in 60 countries. Now both VPNs have a similar country count, the main difference being that Surfshark has 5 more countries while NordVPN has over 2,000 more servers than Surfshark. Also with NordVPN users can browse through all the servers one by one, whereas on Surfshark you’re only able to select the location and now the server itself. Both Surfshark and NordVPN are natively compatible with most devices, including desktops, mobile devices and tablets, as well as streaming sticks and smart TVs. And speaking of streaming both VPNs do wonders when it comes to streaming, though do keep in mind that Surfshark has 5 more countries, so consider that if any of these countries are of a concern to you, otherwise NordVPN will work just fine. Now with regards to pricing, you will notice a difference, Surfshark is quite a bit cheaper, but ultimately it’s up to you which VPN is worth your money, because it all depends on whether or not which one satisfies your needs and wants.
