We took the pledge! LIPEDEMA SURGEON INSURANCE PLEDGE: I wholeheartedly believe that lipedema is a medical condition and should be accepted by the medical community and health insurance companies. I believe lipedema treatments, both medical and surgical, should be covered by insurance. Coverage for lipedema surgery is now possible for many patients and can often be obtained within a few months, not years. Because I believe that you have a right to lipedema surgery coverage, I make this pledge: 1. I will not charge you more for surgery because you want insurance coverage. 2. I will not rush you to pay cash without giving you time to submit a properly documented written coverage request. 3. I will provide you with a supporting letter, detailed exam notes and surgical plan promptly for your coverage request. 4. If you get covered before or during the surgery process, I will work with the insurer to do a single case agreement that treats any surgeries as an in-network service, so you only pay copayments and deductibles. 5. If you are submitting your own claims after surgery, I will provide you with a billing statement and all supporting operative notes after your surgery. 6. I will not charge you to write letters, complete forms, provide statements or file claim forms when there is a single case agreement. 7.
