Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been urging US President Donald Trump to "keep hitting Iran hard," The New York Times reported citing unnamed officials. According to the report, the advice from the Crown Prince echoes that of the late Saudi King Abdullah. Trump, who has held regular talks with Arab leaders amid the ongoing war, has been pressed by Riyadh to “cut off the head of the snake”, the reported added. The reported remarks from the Saudi leadership come as the kingdom battles a series of drone and missile attacks from Iran. Tehran, for its part, has argued that US bases in the region, including those in Saudi Arabia, remain a legitimate target of its armed forces. The Prince Sultan Air Base, which reportedly houses American warplanes and refuelling aircraft, has repeatedly come under Iranian attack amid the ongoing war.
