THIS IS NOT MINE. This song was made by Anders Enger Jensen for David Murray's (better known as The 8-Bit Guy) DOS game Planet X3. According to David, Planet X3 uses a tracker-based sound engine that supports the PC beeper, Tandy SN76489, and Adlib OPL2 (both in ISA and printer port form). In his video he stated it uses 3 channels for music, but technically, in Adlib, it uses 5 channels. I can understand him thinking the Tandy SN76489 has 3 channels, as it was often marketed and used as a 3-voice sound chip in Tandy games, but it really has 4 channels: 3 square wave channels, and 1 noise channel that can take frequencies from the 3rd square wave channel and can be either periodic (read: 6.25% pulse wave that is 4 octaves deeper than the square waves and is thus really useful for bass) or not. As for the Adlib support, the instruments themselves are nothing to write home about, but I do like the kick instruments. After all, since the OPL2 supported sine waves as a waveform to modulate the frequency of, if you don't do any modulation, you can have a classic 808 kick, and if you do a pitch slide, you can have a classic 909 kick. I am also surprised that this OPL2 song was able to do a square wave sound, since the OPL2 did not have a square wave waveform. Also, the song is very short, and doesn't seem like it was made for looping, having an actual end to it. Made with DOSBox-X, Corrscope, and Multidumper.
