Its a beautiful summer day to visit Gibraltar. But how easy is it to cross the land border from Spain to Gibraltar. Watch this short video on how easy it is to cross the land border, whether walking, biking, by car, motorcycle or scooter. Is it easy to cross the border from Spain to Gibraltar? Yes it is quite easy as long as you have the proper forms of identification. Please see the links below regarding Spanish and Gibraltar customs and documents needed. What do I need as an American to cross the border to Gibraltar? Typically you just need your American Passport, and crossing is very easy and uneventful. During times of Covid though, I need my Spanish Residency Identification as well. Be sure to check the links below or do your own research to make sure you have what is required to enter. Of course in these times when the rules change from day to day, make sure you know. How do I cross the border from Spain to Gibraltar? You can walk, bike, in a car, on a motorcycle or a scooter. Today, I am going through the border from Spain-Gibraltar and from Gibraltar to Spain on my bike. What items can I bring across the border from Gib to Spain and back? Please check local regulations. From time to time both countries update what is allowed to be brought back and forth. Is it cheaper to stay on the Spain side or Gibraltar side? Everything is cheaper here in Spain. Here in La Linea we rely a lot on local tourism and jobs that Gibraltar has. Housing, rentals, short term rentals, food, and restaurants are all cheaper on the Spain side. That depends on the time of day and the amount of traffic. You never know when the border patrol will do random checks. Sometimes they just look at your passport and other times they search your bag for contraband. Have your passport and documents ready. As you can see, when I pass through on bike, I have mine ready well before I get up to the crossing to make sure it is smooth. My crossing was uneventful, I have had other crossings where they stop me to check my things.
