Starting in Melbourne in January 2025, Diamond Bay embarks on an epic journey with other wooden boats from the ‪@woodenboatshop‬ led by its founder, Tim Phillips OAM. Leg 1 – Melbourne to Hobart The first leg takes us south from Melbourne, stopping at Refuge Cove (Wilsons Promontory) before crossing Bass Strait. Along the way, we explore the stunning islands of Bass Strait, including Deal Island, Flinders Island and Cape Barren Island, before following Tasmania’s east coast past Wineglass Bay, Fortescue Bay, Cape Pillars Port Arthur andf Kettering. The journey concludes in Hobart, just in time for the ‪@australianwoodenboatfestiv3519‬ Leg 2 – Hobart to Port Lincoln From Hobart, the fleet ventures up Tasmania’s rugged West Coast, visiting Port Davey, the Gordon River, and Strahan before reaching Hunter Island and King Island. From there, we reconnect with mainland Australia at Port Fairy, continuing past Portland, Robe, Kangaroo Island, Wedge Island and finally arriving at Port Lincoln. Leg 3 – Port Lincoln to Fremantle and Beyond Leg 3 takes us across the Great Australian Bight to Fremantle, before continuing clockwise around the largest island in the world—Australia. Leg 4 - Fremantle to Port Headland THis is a big one taking in the Abrolhos Islands, Ningaloo, Exmouth and the Montebello Islands before tying up in Port Hedland for a spell. Built by the Wooden Boat Shop and launched in 2024, Diamond Bay is an Efficient 44, purpose-built for adventure.
