My Thoughts On The Song/Chart: One of the many greats from 2002's "Songs for the Deaf" this one in particular featuring lead vocals by the late Mark Lanegan from the Screaming Trees. The song is pretty blusey one in sound while also managing to be climactic and intense during certain parts. A good show of QOTSA's strengths despite not being a single, despite this it's admittingly quite a slow one for the guitar role for most of the song, mostly just standard riffage, some breaks, two guitar solos and two trill lanes (the first of which is a broken one which required me to strum the last note of it.) There are several choke points in the song even outside of the trills, a major one being the random strum burst at 5:09 which is very late into the song and trust me, good song but sort of a pain to grind an FC for. Guitar Solo: 3:10 Guitar Solo 2: 4:56 Song Facts: God is in the Radio is the eleventh track off Queens of the Stone Age's third studio album, Songs for the Deaf. It's sung by Mark Lanegan. An alternate version for this song called Cathedral City (that included a different bass and guitar riff) was often played on the Songs for the Deaf touring cycle. The song was called Midgets and Diamonds while being developed. The intro to the song (found at the end of the preceding track) uses clips from southern religious radio stations to indicate to the listener that this song is supposed to represent Christian rock music in the concept album that is Songs for the Deaf. Accordingly, “God is in the Radio” is a sort of secular hymn- but a very dark one. #queensofthestoneage #2000srock #rockband #retrogaming Copyright Disclaimer: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
