Gorges du Guiers Vif, Balcony Road D520C, Chartreuse, France - by motorcycle

The balcony road D520C runs about 7 km along the Gorges de Guiers Vif, from Le Châtelard up to Saint-Pierre-d'Entremont. The road only climbs about 90 meters in altitude. There are a few short, unlit tunnels, but the road is easy to drive on. The road is located in the department Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes / Isère and there in the massif of the Chartreuse. The gorge was cut into the limestone by the river Guiers Vif (living mistletoe). Further south there is the river Guiers Mort (dead mistletoe) and both rivers merge into the Guiers at Les Echelles.
