JR Kyushu, one of the constituents of the former Japanese National Railways, holds jurisdiction over most of the conventional mainline railways in Kyushu, including the Sanyō Main Line across the Kanmon Tunnel to Shimonoseki. In Fukuoka Prefecture and neighboring Ōita and Saga Prefectures, it operates a fairly dense network of conventional lines, including many limited express trains. The most significant of these is the Kagoshima Main Line (JA, JB), originally running from Mojiko to Kagoshima before the opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen (and subsequent transfer of part of the line to a third sector company). This route connects Fukuoka and Kitakyushu, the two largest cities in Fukuoka Prefecture, before continuing south through Kurume and Ōmuta, two other major cities in the prefecture. Other main lines include the Nippō Main Line (JF) to Beppu, Ōita, and Nobeoka, though we do not have much dedicated footage of the line, the Chikuhō Main Line running from Wakamatsu to Haruda via Orio, Nōgata, and Keisen (we do not have any footage of the Wakamatsu (JE) or Haruda (JG) Lines in this video), and the Nagasaki Main Line (JH) to Saga, Isahaya, and Nagasaki, though we only have a short clip in Shin-Tosu (Saga Prefecture) in this video. In addition to this, the local network spans the Kashii Line (JD) with its battery electric trains (also used on the Wakamatsu Line section of the Chikuhō Main Line), the Gotōji Line (JJ, no footage), the Sasaguri Line (JC, branded as part of the Fukuhoku Yutaka Line together with the core of the Chikuhō Main Line), and the Chikuhi Line (JK), which through-operates with the Fukuoka City Subway. Of the local lines without dedicated station numbering, the only one featured in this video is the Kyūdai Main Line, the western portion of which is a commuter line for Kurume. We have no footage of the Karatsu Line in this video. This video only covers Fukuoka and Saga Prefectures - sections of the Kagoshima Main Line in Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures will be in the respective videos for those prefectures, and similar for the Nagasaki Main Line in Nagasaki Prefecture. Note that the portion of the Shinkansen between Kokura and Hakata is actually operated by JR West, not JR Kyushu - we are not including dedicated footage in this video.
