Chapter 9: Revelations Alyx escapes from the Antlion-infested zoo and witnesses the Vorts sabotaging the last substation keeping the Vault afloat. However, the Combine has managed to activate an emergency backup substation. Alyx must continue to blast through trainyards full of Antlions and Combine in order to reach this substation and shut it down. Along the way, she overhears a cryptic conversation with startling revelations as to the contents of the Vault. However, using the model viewer or otherwise manipulating the game to access the room at 6:42 reveals that the woman sports a radically different haircut. In fact, her hair is the only textured part of her body, everything else is greyed out. However, textures for her do exist, which, when applied to the model, seem like a completely new character At 6:42, a mysterious woman is seen conversing with an Advisor. Similarly, in HL2, Wallace Breen converses with an Advisor in the same manner, which seems to indicate that the Advisors are communicating with these characters through telepathy At 7:04, the woman mentions that the individual in the Vault raised hell in and survived Black Mesa, and then disappeared. While Gordon Freeman is the obvious candidate, another possibility is Corporal Adrian Shepard from the game Half-Life: Opposing Force, an expansion to the original Half-Life developed by Gearbox. Shepard also survived impossible odds at Black Mesa, only to be taken away and put in stasis by the G-man The hidden room at 9:48 is full of notable items, though the identity of its former/present inhabitant is still unknown. A pair of red glasses at 10:01 (fun fact, the original model of Wallace Breen featured glasses), Combine lenses that appear to have been taken from the helmets, alongside tally marks at 10:09 (implying that whoever lived here killed Combine soldiers), a Tiger souvenir from the Central Zoo at 10:14 (can also be found in the previous chapter), a dead pet rat at 10:19, and a book on the Black Mesa Incident at 10:23 if one were to pick up the book at the bottom of the pile As observed at 11:37, The Combine harvest fluids from the Antlion Workers to create the vats of Infestation Control foam observed primarily in Chapters 5 and 7 Alyx's comments at 13:30 foreshadow the events of HL2
