These exist in both SAS and SATA interfaces, I assume maybe a previous customer ordered the SATA models instead of SAS by mistake, and had them returned. It turns out the first drive was never powered up. SMART registers my first use as the first power up cycle of the drive. So it appears either brand new or maybe refurbished by the manufacturer. The second drive might be the same, but was unfortunately DOA. Powered up the first time with a click of death.
