“Come Down Jehova”, also sometimes known as the “Atheist’s Hymn”, was written by the hugely talented singer songwriter Chris Wood. I have loved the song since it was first included on his 2009 album, “Trespasser” and I often used to include it in my own live performances. Since being diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer I have come to especially value the lyrics which prompt us humans to better appreciate the amazing planet on which we live our lives. Whilst out walking a short while ago, one of our nine-year-old granddaughters asked why grownups never stop to look at the wild flowers, fungi and creatures living in the hedge bottoms and her question reflects so well the sentiments of, “Come Down Jehovah”. The quote at the end of this recording is taken from George Harrison’s, “Within You and Without You” and very fitting it is too. If you are affected by cancer do try to stay positive, value each day and let the leaves of life drift away to wherever fate may let them settle - Hum Phat.
