Cattle farming is a major industry involving a lot of animal manure.Most farms with pigs, chickens and calves don't have enough land so the manure has to be transported to crop farmers somewhere else. In Holland It involves the transport of 750,000 truck loads of manure a year. 90% of the manure exists of water and 10% oorganic substances and minerals.InnovatieNetwork in the Netherlands developed a concept in which the manure is used for energy within the farm itself and for duckweed and algae as fodder.That's how Ecoferm was born.
