Welcome to I’ll Knit If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions! In this week’s episode we cover: 1. Do you wet block your finished object when you're working with handspun yarn? I know that the final stage of finishing off a handspun yarn is to wash it and thwack it, so is wet blocking the FO still necessary? 2. Stonecrop Cardi- Any suggestions on what to do instead of the crochet bobbles? https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr... http://www.dreareneeknits.com/shop/st... Crochet Bobble: • Half Double Crochet Bobble Knit Bobble: • Bobbles 3. I have knit for many years off and on and have mostly knit blankets and scarves not really requiring a gauge swatch. I am now beginning my journey with sweaters and am wondering if you have any tips and/or resources that you recommend for how to knit a gauge swatch. I notice quite often that the swatch needs to be knit in the round in sweater patterns. This makes a lot a of sense. I am wondering if you have any tips and or resources that you could recommend for the best way to get an accurate gauge swatch (flat or in the round). Thank you so very much! / Hi Andrea, I haven't been knitting long and have knitted swatches in the round on small circumference cords. Recently I saw a pic of the back side of someones round swatch and it was all yarn and not knitted. My brain exploded a bit. Have I been knitting my round swatches incorrectly? Can you explain what this method is and how to do it? Is it the preferred method for knitters? Do you also block with these yarn strands in the back? Thank you in advance for your help! 4. I have bought many ball winders, low-mid price ranged and all seem to break after minimal use. Is there a ball winder that you love and if so please share. Thank you https://stanwoodbrands.com/products/s... https://www.fiberartistsupply.com/map... 5. I recently decided to try brioche, light years behind many knitters, and used your two-color tubular cast-on. I started with a bulky yarn and it went great. Smooth sailing. I then decided to try your Ghost Ranch hat. I was less successful on the smaller needles and lighter yarn. Everything kept twisting. Any suggestions or tips to help with this? It does look so much better with this cast-on. Bonus Question: How do you decide what ply yarn to use? I liked a pattern that called for a 2ply fingering but the yarn I wanted to use was single ply fingering. How do you know what to use and what is the real difference in ply count mean?
