Ham Radio, Students and Scientists at the 2025 HamSCI Workshop https://www.arrl.org/news/ham-radio-s... Many people get involved with amateur radio because of their interest in radio electronics and related science and technology. The incredible world of amateur radio -- your freedom to the airwaves -- is your sandbox where curiosity is explored, and where radio is learned. ARRL met up with participants at the 2025 HamSCI Workshop, held at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. HamSCI is a community of amateur radio operators, scientists, and educators working together on a variety of research projects. The workshop featured over 50 poster and oral presentations, including those in this short video: Owen Ruzanski, KD3ALD, The University of Scranton: Development of a Contesting and DXing Dashboard for the HamSCI Personal Space Weather Station https://hamsci.org/publications/devel... Mindy Hull, MD, KM1NDY: Effect of near total solar eclipse on radio propagation of HF, Weak-Signal Propagation Reporter (WSPR) transmissions https://hamsci.org/publications/effec... Gerard Piccini, KD2ZHK, The University of Scranton: A Low-Cost Low-Power Chirp Ionosonde for Studying Eclipse Ionospheric Impacts https://hamsci.org/publications/low-c... Steve Stroh, N8GNJ, Zero Tries Newsletter: The IP400 Networking Project https://hamsci.org/publications/ip400...
