"Granada" is a song written in 1932 by Mexican composer Agustín Lara. The song is about the Spanish city of Granada and has become a standard in music repertoire. The song was much favored by theatre organists in the UK, because it provided an opportunity for showing off the organ and the organist. I first heard it by Hammond Organist Eddie Layton back in the early 60's. He showed how one could play slow and fast, accurately, and also showed how the pedal work was involved. It became one of my most requested tunes in concert work for Hammond, Baldwin, and Wurlitzer organs. I just like it because it makes me think fast, and I get to play rhythmically complex material. So let's just have fun here..... get out your maracas and claves and play along! :0)
