During the ongoing monsoon session of the Maharashtra Assembly, opposition party MLAs staged a unique protest on the assembly stairs. Members from the NCP Sharad Pawar camp, Congress, and Shiv Sena UBT wore red lungis and white vests over their clothes, mimicking the attire of Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad. The protest was to condemn an assault by Gaikwad on a canteen manager over the quality of dal, an incident captured on video. The opposition has now labelled the ruling government the "'Chaddi Banyan Gang'".
