SUMMARY Module 1: The Mobile Foundation The goal is to get you comfortable with the "thumb-friendly" workflow of the Canva mobile app. Designing on a phone requires different precision than a PC, so we start by mastering the navigation and basic layering. 1.1 Navigating the "Thumb-Friendly" Interface The Homepage: You will learn how to use the navigation menu, the "create" is canva hub for variou design ideas, using the search bar to find specific dimensions (e.g., "Instagram Portrait"), "Your design" menu is where your "Recent Designs" are stored. The "template" menu: this is the hub for various design templates, basically everything—elements, gallery, brand kit, and text. 1.2 Canvas & Templates: The Menu Bar: We have the top menu icons for undo/redo, sharing, and the three-dot menu for file settings. And the bottom menu bar for canvas settings and elements menu. Template Customization: picking the right template for your desirable design and changing only the essential parts (colors and text) to avoid "template-look" fatigue. Blank Canvas: You set custom dimensions (e.g., 1080 x 1350 px) to start a design from scratch for better control. 1.3 Layering on Small Screens The Layers Tool: Since mobile screens are small, designers often struggle to "grab" an object. You'll learn how to use the panel tools to lock, hide, or reorder elements without accidentally moving the background. Positioning: Using the "Nudge" tool for pixel-perfect movements that fingers can't achieve alone. 1.4 Basic Text & Elements Text Addition: Practicing adding a heading, subheading, and body text. And making sure to avoid using more than 2-3 fonts in one design to prevent font clusters. Shapes & Graphics: You'll learn how to add "Graphics", "Photos/image" in the elements tab and how to change the colors of vector graphics to match your design brand.
