When buying lithium ion cells, the only way to ensure what you are buying is by buying from a reputable source, usually someone authorized as a distributor/dealer. You can’t always find that so the best you can do is find a seller with good rating and order 1 cell and test it to be best of your ability. Or find trustworthy reviews. The problem is very few people can accurately test cells. Even with all my stuff I can only give a partial test and see if it matches more extensive tests like Mooch, @CoolWatts , @DIY500AMP who have better equipment. Impossible notice about the QR code. Many EVE 40PL like Mooch and CoolWatts test have a different format. My cell and DIY500AMP have the same format. I don’t know if both are legit but the important thing is each and every cell QR is different. If you buy more than one cell and the QR code is identical, it’s obviously fake, a cloned wrapper. The real bottom line is, will the cell deliver the performance you want, or fall flat on its face as soon as you put a heavy load on it? In my test, i first used a cheap capacity tester and it showed 4040 mah, and generally it reports low because it ends before 2.5v. So thats ok. Next is visual inspection, looking for nice wrapper, spiral on (-) end, and the QR code matches the batch code + 6 digit serial number or in this case, batch code -H + serial number +H. The serial number is different on every cell manufactured. Finally the discharge test at 20a, verified by my cheap clamp meter lol. And discharge to 3.500v verified by my other cheap multimeter. Then I used Mooch’s battery test 20a discharge curve, and when the cell drops to 3.500v, it should have delivered 1900 mah, and mine delivered 2060 mah, but the cell temperature was about 10c hotter than a real test and that decreases IR and lets more current flow with less voltage sag. This cell can obviously deliver much more current than 20a, but as you can see the battery drained to 50% SOC in only 6 minutes so you can’t design a useful ebike with this as continues current. And 40a should be only enough seconds to get up to speed.
