An ancient Egyptian fortress, trade routes, and advanced military strategy?

Apologies for being gone for a bit, being with family is often busy. If you’re new here, hi, I’m Alexis, I’m a forensic anthropology master’s student, and I talk to you about science. Archaeologists have recently uncovered one of the largest ancient Egyptian fortresses, along an ancient trade and military route in North Sinai, known as the “Way of Horus.” This route connected Egypt to Mesopotamia, Syria, and Anatolia. The fortress is about 8000 square meters, and dates to sometime in the new kingdom period, around the 1500s to 1000s BCE, which would have included the reign of King Tutankhamen (King Tut) and his father Akhenaten, and Ramesses I and II, and several other New Kingdom Pharoahs. It is one of a series of fortresses built to secure the borders between ancient Egypt and the Levant. Inside the fortress archaeologists have found soldiers’ quarters, large internal walls to separate the structure into sections, pottery, a large bread oven, and even petrified dough. Researchers state that the fortress underwent several rounds of modifications, adapting to the changing military needs and accommodating sophisticated defense strategies.
