Ponnanganni keerai or Dwarf Copperleaf packs in numerous health benefits. It is commonly available in southern part of India, it is packed with many nutrients. It makes the skin glow, cures eye sight problems, reduces risk of heart diseases and heart attack, it strengthens the liver, flushes out excessive cholesterol from our body. Preparing ponnanganni keerai will dhal increases its health benefits as it increases its fibre and protein content in the process. Ponnanganni keerai kootu is relatively easy to make, it can be had with rice for lunch. Avoid having it for dinner. Ingredients 200 grams ponnanganni keerti (leaves) 1 tsp turmeric powder 2 green chillies 3 garlic cloves 1 cup moong dhal 1 tsp mustard 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 cup chopped onions 3 red chillies 1 tsp asafoetida Salt to taste Oil to cook How to Cook Ponnanganni keerai masiyal Step 1: Roast 1 cup of moong dhal dry on a pan without adding any oil for 2 minutes Step 2: After it has roasted enough add enough water and use the water to wash the dhal Step 3: Drain the water and add enough water again and bring it to boil Step 4: Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder Step 5: Add 2 green chillies and 3 garlic cloves and let the dhal to cook Step 6: Once the dhal has cooked enough add 200 grams of ponnanganni keerai leaves and mix it well Step 7: Let the keerai to cook well. Step 8: Saute 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 cup of chopped onion, 3 red chillies, 1 tsp asafoetida. Step 9: Let the onion cook well and transfer the contents to the cooked dhal and mix well Step 10: Add some salt to taste and turn off the heat.
