The San Juans - A Colorado Journey

The San Juan Mountains surround the towns of Ouray, Silverton, and Telluride, Colorado and offer some of the most scenic Jeep trails in the country. Trails that take you to over 13,000 feet on narrow shelf roads where Alpine meadows are blooming and snow from the winter is still melting. Imogene Pass, Ophir Pass, California Pass, Hurricane Pass are the main passes seen in this trip. Governor Basin, Yankee Boy Basin, Animas Forks, California Basin, and parts of Engineer Pass to Ouray are also included. The 99 Jeep XJ performed flawlessy on the way there, on the trails, and coming home. If you own a Jeep and don't mind the heights, add this to your bucket list of destinations. The camera doesn't do the area justice where being there is the only way to truly capture the natural wonder of these mountains. Once again the Kodiak Tent was a retreat during the rain and provided the perfect shelter outside of the AirBnB the rest of the trip.
