Actually it is not the case, it is an encoder which gives a Gillham code for a transponder. The encoder function will be tested in next video. The term "servo altimeter" in that instrument means that there is a servo control of the pointer from a zero detector, like most altimeters by the way. It is different than other "servo altimeters" which have a selector on the front which permits the selection between the normal mode using the static pressure and a standby mode using an external synchro. It is not the case on that instrument.
