Hi everyone! This week I've been changing some things on my video layouts. Therefor I have a bonus video today where you can enjoy these new features in the video. No big changes, but you will definitely see what has changed! Enjoy this bonus ride! I'ts cold outside today! Temperatures are below zero. You will see some frozen waters next to the tracks later in the video. 0:00 Amsterdam Centraal We start the day in darkness at Amsterdam Centraal. The dawn of day will soon fill the sky and more light will be visible. On this ride we have a train manager that just started at NS. Everything must still be teached so departure sometimes takes a little more time than normally. Will we make it on time to the next stops? 3:07 Singelgrachtbrug 4:03 Overbrakerpolder Connection 5:16 Amsterdam Sloterdijk That was the darkest part of our journey. From now on it will slowly get lighter by the minute. We arrive perfectly on time at our first stop. In this video we won't be crossing any Province borders. 7:52 Radarweg Connection 9:33 Hemtunnel Connection 10:13 Hemtunnel 11:44 Zaandam After Zaandam the tracks towards Hoorn split up on the right. 16:12 Koog aan de Zaan 16:54 Zaandijk Zaanse Schans 18:20 Wormerveer 19:17 Spoorbrug Krommenie-Wormerveer No wires for the train at this location. Therefor we must turn off the trains traction to minimize power consumption. Traction would cause a huge arc between the and of the wires and the pantographs. After passing the bridge power comes back and traction can be set bat to the motors again. During the passing of the bridge batteries will feed the vital systems of the train (lights, safety systems etc). 22:03 Uitgeest 24:15 Castricum Arriving at the next stops with a flashing number on the light signal. This means we must slow down to that speed and we're note allowed to interrupt the braking of the train. But it's not necessary the given speed has been reached at the next light signal already. The next one is yellow and gives the assignment to stop before the next light signal. 30:00 Onze Lieve Vrouwen ter Noord An old platform that's not in use anymore. In the past this platform was specially made for the place of pilgrimage. 30:20 Heiloo 35:00 Alkmaar Arriving at Alkmaar. A lovely city to visit when you're ever in the neighborhood. 41:30 Spoorbrug Noordhollansch Kanaal Again a bridge without overhead wires. This time on slow speed. But no worries! Trains can move without power for a long time due to their high weight and very low friction on the rails. 42:54 Alkmaar Noord 46:49 Bolbrug 47:19 Heerhugowaard As you can see the level crossing before Heerhugowaard is now closed. There will be a brand new viaduct there soon. No need for the cars to pass over the tracks anymore. Better for traffic on the road and on the rails! :D 55:44 Schagen It's a bit of a white world outside. Waters have frozen and the grass too! Lovely morning! :D After Schagen we continue on a single tracked line towards Den Helder. 1:00:32 Viaduct N248 1:02:13 Informing Passengers about Sunrise! Sunrise on the right... out of our own sight. But I love to let passengers have that extra special moment during their journey. :D 1:03:46 Anna Paulowna A short moment to wait for the oncoming train on this single tracked line! 1:10:53 Koegrasbrug Another bridge without overhead wires. The last one on our route! :) 1:12:36 Arriving on the east track of Den Helder Zuid. No need to switch tracks so we can arrive on higher speed than we would do on the other track. 1:16:32 Den Helder Final stop for this video! Welcome in my old home town.
