The video explains the common questions in applying for US residency 1- USMLE Step 1 pass-fail: This is a huge development. the main emphasis is now to focus on step 2 score because it's a very crucial step now. 2- Removal of CS: won't change anything in a major way, OET remains an assessment tool for now. 3- Role of research: very important, CONTACTS make a huge difference. 4- Letter of recommendations: ask at the end of your clinical elective, ask whom you have worked the most with. 5- Usmle Step 3: the significance overall would remain unchanged, 6- Failures/attempts in USMLE: continues to be a major red flag in residency applications 7- Already done training: doesn't add a great significance as they look for US experience. Once you match the previous clinical experience will allow the resident to shine but initially as a screening tool is not utilized. 8- Name of the IMG medical school: usually the name doesn't matter. The most difference does come in terms of the fact that graduates from schools where more medical students have gone for residency would adapt better and would know the system better than someone with no guidance.
