Professor Eneken Laanes and former LVF student and current Junior Research Fellow Hanna Maria Aunin introduce the joint MA programme in Literature, Visual Culture and Film Studies. In this webinar, they present the academic focus, curriculum, and admission process of the programme. The English-taught MA offers an interdisciplinary education for students who want to deepen their understanding of cultural productions and learn how to interpret, question, and analyse literature, film, and visual culture in a systematic way. Students engage in small, seminar-based courses where interpretation, argument, and independent analysis across historical and contemporary contexts are central, and from early on begin shaping a research focus that develops into a Master’s thesis. The programme is offered jointly by Tallinn University and the Estonian Academy of Arts, deliberately crossing institutional and disciplinary boundaries to draw on expertise in literature, film studies, visual culture, and art history. The session also covers programme structure, admission and language requirements, application deadlines, academic expectations, career pathways, and practical information — with a live Q&A at the end.
