MITSURUGI is a best Ritual archetype that revolves around its main Level 8 Ritual Monsters and its support Level 4 Effect Monster. This new archetype is introduced in Selection Pack RULER'S PROVIDENCE. Each monster in the archetype has an effect that activates in the Graveyard when they are Tributed, recovering card advantage and board presence when they are used as material for Ritual Summons or when they are Tributed by their own effects. The goal of the archetype is to end on AME NO MURAKUMO NO MITSURUGI or FUTSU NO MITAMA NO MITSURUGI, who together make the archetype difficult to break through due to their search and recursion on Tribute as well as their disruptive effects on the field. MURAKUMO can destroy all monsters the opponent controls when Special Summoned and can either negate an opponent's card or force them to discard, while MITAMA can swarm the board with Reptiles as the opponent Special Summons their monsters. To enable easier Ritual Summoning, their Ritual Spell Card, MITSURUGI RITUAL can both Ritual Summon from the Deck by using materials in the hand/field and Ritual Summon from the hand by using materials in the Deck, both each once per turn, increasing the consistency with which the archetype is capable of accessing its Ritual Monsters. The capability of MITSURUGI make them to be good starter of Rank 4 XYZ or Rank 8 XYZ focused combo archetype. The capability of Mitsurugi that be starter for Rank 4 XYZ can bring possibility of this archetype to create Gryphon Lock combo. Gryphon Lock combo is the combo that focused on how you can summon KNIGHTMARE GRYPHON to your leftmost zone, rightmost zone or center zone. If you success to summon it to one of those zones, you can shutdown your opponent to activate his Special Summoned monster on field. This strategy is very effective to shutdown many archetype. This Gryphon Lock combo is helped by support of MALISS archetype. The Maliss can make this combo can be easily to do. This end-board also will be nightmare for Link focused deck player because this end-board will prevent your opponent to Link Summon player because this deck can make V Extra Link with no arrow point that facing to opponent.
