It is now the significant Chinese New Year of the Firehorse. The last year of the Firehorse was in 1966, which is the year that I was born. A very revolutionary time then and now will begin to repeat itself once more. Planetary shifts and movement in the universe are the driving force of my work. Check out this blog I wrote about The Year of the Firehorse https://www.elisewagner.com/archived-.... The blog is all about dissolving all that doesn’t serve your life, igniting creativity and moving forth to embrace the freedom that the horse embodies and run without abandon into a new era. So, I’m kinda doing that creatively. My studio on the water here in Astoria, Oregon has been an undeniable influence on my work. The word for the new work is Buoyancy. Seeing the buoy from my window each day has come to stand as a symbol of resilience in facing the many tides of trauma and grief that we endure in this life. This video is a peek into what’s igniting creatively so far. I am pressing forth with a vengence — printing, painting and continually integrating new techniques. I am embarking on projects that I used to only dream of doing — using enlarged photos I’ve taken from my window printed on mulberry paper by the now local to Astoria Push Dot Studio. I’ve long wanted to collaborate with Push Dot and we are so lucky to have them here in our little town! The work is changing and transforming. I am being called to release the fear of the new while walking two different roads with the work but the concepts are similar. My printmaking practice is fully merging and maturing with the work and my photos are too. It is a good thing as I have two different shows coming up, one in Astoria in September at Imogen Gallery and another at the new Lost in Composition Gallery in Seattle.
