Joe Cappa is the creator and primary voice actor of the show Haha, You Clowns. Like many Adult Swim shows, it features a very distinct style of animation. However, underneath the somewhat disconcerting visuals is a wholesome and sweet show. It follows three huge brothers, The Campbell Boys, who live with their widowed father, an equally huge weather man. Together they navigate life challenges with the help of family and community. This is Joe Cappa’s first show. Even more impressively, this is his first job in show business. Cappa joins Bullseye to talk about his fascination with comedically buff characters, learning animation while working at an ad agency in Oklahoma, and borrowing from his real life to create Haha, You Clowns. But unlike most Adult Swim Shows, that off-kilter animation belies the show's true nature… which is… basically the sweetest thing on television since Joe Pera Talks With You? Maybe even sweeter? I love it. Haha, You Clowns follows The Campbell Boys. Three big beefy brothers who are roughly, I guess, late high school, early college age? The Campbell Boys lost their mom before the show began and live with their dad, Tom, who is a weather man. He is also big and beefy. Together they navigate life and its challenges in a way that is very wholesome, healthy and supportive. Like, when one brother gets sad because he lost his beloved bomber jacket, the whole family rallies to his aid to cheer him up and help recover it.
