Follow Dr Ben Shaw (ANU), Vincent Kewibu (UPNG), Simon Coxe (Monash), Dr. Charles Radclyffe (ANU), and nine archaeology students from ANU and UPNG as they embark on the first jointly run PNG archaeology and cultural heritage fieldschool, held in 2022 on Panaeati Island, Milne Bay Province, in conjunction with the wonderful Panaeati communities. Over 2 weeks the team work with the communities to learn about the dynamic past of this remarkable island region, and to uncover fragmented remains of pottery, charcoal and stone that provides evidence about the early formation of the Kula network. The team is indebted to the Panaeati Island communities for their kindness, hospitality and wisdom. In memory and honour of Henry Arifeae.
