Wanted to test the viability of shotguns only in many uses. Using all abilities but only shotgunning and not charged shots, so we're missing out on the 25k damage on the table for two shotgun blasts. Shotguns have insane range but really bad accuracy at longer range, so another ideal use is on clustered enemy targets at like 200ish meters. Effectively if you think a group of enemies can get super swamped by Stego's micro missiles, then you can position yourself with Inferno to shotgun that same group. I think the optimal range is less than 100 meters against a single target. Pretty great against melee, and since you're not using charged shots, you won't have to worry about getting staggered and interrupted between charged and uncharged if you're not up to speed with aux 3 toggle. Inferno when charging shots has to wait a swapping period to use the shotguns and if interrupted outside of aux 3 it resets the charged shots. It's iffy if you want to be on the ground or in the air against a target, so you gotta juggle that. There's pros and cons with being on the ground and air, like your aux 3 helps ground regen, and being in the air means melee has to work a bit harder and expend more energy to harass you. I feel like you get more accuracy being on the same elevation as your target as opposed to being asymmetrical elevations with more dynamic vectors and movement. Ammo is a bit scarce if you spam the shots, but if you have a full ammo pool, you can throw one or two shotgun blasts consistently at 300 to 400 meters from a mid distance to ensure you're not topped out. Another tip is that I often use my left click to start a shotgun barrage out of habit, but then I might not use my right click to start the next. So it's good to alternate the first fire to keep the shotgun ammo pools about the same. I think alternatively, it might be good to use the shotguns if the enemies are staggered in a non-straight line, so some shots can hit. If there's like a few meters of a difference laterally on your screen, then that's probably ideal. If the two targets are within your reticle then it's probably worth. I did mess up my chest laser when spamming my aux 3, making me miss several times, I'm not a good inferno player lmao. These tests were against bots in casual verge, and I honestly think Shotgun Inferno can be viable depending on team comp. If you got a melee heavy team, and a pinaka, shotgun inferno would be stupid deadly when your melees jump someone in a corner. I imagine the ideal map is payload. Would not recommend Shotgun Inferno against Aquilas, Aquila bot was caught lacking a few times but that's not realistic in a real game. Shotguns might be more viable to a close up SR or Falcon, although that depends on how good you are at aiming, positioning, timing, and charged shots. I think there is a high skill ceiling for shotgun inferno and I give this strat a viability rating of 5 out of 10, with higher skill in positioning and aux 3 toggle putting it at a 7 out of 10.
