Have you ever considered taking a Soweto bike tour? When visiting Johannesburg, I couldn't miss the opportunity to take a Soweto tour. The tour started with a delicious and traditional South African lunch, and after that we went cycling on the streets of Soweto. During the bike tour, we had the chance to experience day to day life in South Africa's largest township, visit famous spots including Nelson Mandela's house, Archbishop Desmond Tutu's house, Vilakazi, and the Hector Peterson memorial. We also learned about the history of this Soweto and the incidents that happened on the fateful day of 16 June in 1976 when Hector Peterson was shot and killed by the police during the student protests. Nowadays Soweto seems more like a poor neighbourhood that could be anywhere else in the world. People are very friendly and welcoming.
