What happens behind the scenes of wildlife conservation in one of Africa’s most iconic ecosystems? In this episode, Blake and his brother Cody and I travel to Kenya’s greater Amboseli ecosystem to spend two unforgettable weeks with Big Life Foundation, one of the leading conservation organizations in East Africa. This wasn’t a safari. This was rare, raw access into what it actually takes to protect wildlife across a landscape as vast and complex as Amboseli. From flying into Nairobi to being personally picked up by Big Life founder Richard Bonham, we begin our journey at his home, where we get our first on-the-ground overview of the challenges facing this region. Poaching. Human-wildlife conflict. Resource competition. Shrinking habitat. And the relentless effort required to keep wildlife and communities safe. We explore the property, learn the history of Big Life’s work, and even hike with Richard’s son, Jack, up local hills to one of the highest viewpoints in the area, taking in the scale of what’s being protected. This series gives you a lens almost nobody gets to experience. Real conversations. Real challenges. Real conservation. And this is just the beginning. Some truly wild moments unfold in the episodes ahead, so stay tuned. 👉 Learn more about Big Life Foundation and support their work here: https://biglife.org
