Join us for our biggest adventure yet! This week on Trip 4 2 Australia, we're deep in the heart of the Northern Territory's breathtaking Kakadu National Park. We set up our home base at the Merl Campground, a fantastic spot that's perfect for exploring the East Alligator River region. With flushing toilets and hot showers, it's a great blend of bush camping and comfort. You don't need to book ahead—it's first-come, first-served, and the prices are a steal: $15 per adult, $7.50 per child, or a family rate of $38 per night. Our first stop is the infamous Cahill's Crossing, a causeway that links Kakadu and Arnhem Land. We'll be on the lookout for the area's most notorious residents—the saltwater crocodiles! During the dry season, they gather here in large numbers to feast on fish as the tide pushes in, making for an unforgettable wildlife spectacle. It's a high-risk area, so we make sure to stick to the safety of the designated viewing platforms! Next, we head to Ubirr, one of Kakadu's most significant rock art sites and a key reason for the park's dual World Heritage status. The stunning rock paintings, some of which are thousands of years old, tell the stories of the Bininj/Mungguy people and their deep connection to the land. From the top of Ubirr Rock, we soak in a panoramic view of the floodplain and escarpment as the sun sets. Finally, we cap off the day with a magical Yellow Water sunset cruise. Cruising along this stunning billabong, part of the South Alligator River system, we spot an incredible array of birdlife, wild horses, and of course, more crocs! The two-hour sunset cruise is a highlight of the trip, with adult tickets around $130. Park and Camp Prices: Kakadu National Park Pass: Prices vary by season. During the dry season (May-October) it's around $40 per adult for a 7-day pass. Children under 16 are free. Merl Campground: $15 per adult, $7.50 per child (5-15), $38 per family per night. Yellow Water Sunset Cruise: Approximately $130 per adult. This is an episode you won't want to miss!
