“Over My Dead Body” - [Drake]: Jonathan Davis Choreography

yeah, so a lot of relativity and ties go deep into this piece. as nic and I talk about in this video, my last real dance video was the “dance it out” music video and that video belonged to another artist so before that, freudian and by “real dance video” I mean one that required a certain amount of production, concepts, quality etc. I choreographed this piece in december of 2018. around that time in life I was going through what felt like the lowest point ever. a lot of events and information started to come into the light and it took a pretty heavy toll on me. there are many reasons as to why i choreographed to this song. whether it was to give sort of an open letter to everyone assuming my feelings and emotions or it was as simple as I related this song to someone from my past that caused a lot of mental health issues for me around this time. whatever the reasons were they all seemingly tie into the fact that I was really just trying to have a therapeutic moment for myself through my art. that’s just the song. my drake bags are almost always lyrical and therapeutical lol. featuring nic in this video was special. back before I had the fully functional idea for sixteen counts, when the events of life that were happening that influenced me to create sixteen counts, nic was the most reliable shoulder I remember having at the time. I actually remember trying to lie about what was going on, until he found out what was actually going on and reassured me that nothing about our friendship would change and that he would help me get through it however we needed to. since then nic has been one of the most important people in my life that really help me remain grounded. so it only felt right to have him play that same role in the video. those are really the most important ties here, aside from that if you caught the “hold me down” easter egg referencing the same parking deck, or my bro phillip’s song in the background on the radio; then extra points for you 😅. anyway, this is my first video in a while. the story is real, the concept is real, the emotions are all there. this is a byproduct of going through some deep dark unimaginable shit. i really decided to go in as far as production on this video to really scratch the surface of this untold story because even with all these details and things, this really doesn’t even begin to open that pandora box of emotions but for me at least, this was a very therapeutic project and if you guys interpret it well then that’s a bonus. oh, and this is just the beginning of my “comeback” sooooo stay tuned lol. shoutout to my friends for pulling another one together with me. hopefully you guys enjoy this.
