Excerpts from the book: “The Lost Writings of Wu Hsin”. It is believed that Wu Hsin lived between 403 - 221 BC in China, one hundred years after Confucius. His name literally means 'no-mind', and there are almost no traces of him. According to Roy Melvin (book organizer), Wu Hsin was influenced by the schools of Confucius, Mozi and Taoism, and helped create the foundations of what would later be Zen Buddhism in China and Japan. Wu Hsin repeatedly returns to three key points. First, on the phenomenal plane, when one ceases to resist What-Is and becomes more in harmony with It, one attains a state of Ming, or clear seeing. Having arrived at this point, all action becomes wei wu wei, or action without action (non-forcing) and there is a working in harmony with What-Is to accomplish what is required. Second, as the clear seeing deepens (what he refers to as the opening of the great gate), the understanding arises that there is no one doing anything and that there is only the One doing everything through the many and diverse objective phenomena which serve as Its instruments. From this flows the third and last: the seemingly separate me is a misapprehension, created by the mind which divides everything into pseudo-subject (me) and object (the world outside of this me). This seeming two-ness (dva in Sanskrit, duo in Latin, dual in English), this feeling of being separate and apart, is the root cause of unhappiness. “His writings are full of paradoxes, which cause the mind to slow down and sometimes even stop. Reading Wu Hsin, one must reflect. However, it is not an active reflection, but a passive one, in the same way that someone puts something in the oven and lets it bake a little”. Roy Melvin. _________ “Do not cling to any method, path or teacher. The rope that rescues you from the river can be used to hang you.” Wu Hsin - “Many days of silence are needed to recover from the futility of words.” Wu Hsin - "No one can have enough of what does not satisfy." Wu Hsin - “Stillness is not the absence of thought. Stillness is prior to both. Absence and presence. It cannot be created, but it can be found.” Wu Hsin - ________ Thank you everyone for engaging with our channel! Your support is crucial for this message to continue to be spread!
